Pet Pause: Being a prepared pet owner when severe weather strikes

by Natalie Sparacio & Dolores Glytas

WAKE UP WISCONSIN (WAOW)--  The past few weeks we've talked about getting micro chipped, watching the news , and knowing when to head for cover.  This week, we take it a step further.

Make a plan for your family and pets. How will you assemble your pets and anticipate where you will go.

If you have to go to a shelter –where will your pets go?  Ask family and friends out of your immediate area if you can bring your pets.  Or hotels that take pets.

Plan with neighbors & family to make sure someone is available to evacuate your pets if you are not around. Show this person/persons where your emergency kit is at.  This is a great opportunity for neighbors to get organized together.
