Wisconsin Rapids, WI (PRESS RELEASE) –May 11th, 2010. The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters have named Michael Steinwagner as the public address announcer for the inaugural season. Steinwagner brings 36 years of experience with him to the Rafters and fans will have the pleasure to hear his voice echo throughout Historic Witter Field all summer long.
For the last 12 basketball seasons, Steinwagner has been the Public Address Announcer for the 3 Time NCAA Division National Champion UW-Stevens Point Men's Basketball team. Michael retired from umpiring in 2004, after 30 years of umpiring high school, American Legion and NCAA Division 3 baseball. During the off-season, he is the Director of Baseball Operations for the Gary Varsho Youth Baseball League. He is also the Vice-President for the Marshfield American Legion Baseball Corporation. Michael is also a Funeral Home Associate for Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home.
Steinwagner is married to wife, DeAnn, and has 2 children from a previous marriage-Jason and Natalie. Natalie and her husband, Mike, are expecting their first child in August. Michael and DeAnn have a beautiful 2 year old daughter named Faith. In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and camping.
