MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- Police in Marathon County are looking for a suspect in connection with a string of recent thefts.
According to sheriff's deputies, several homes in the town of Stettin, near 88th Avenue, have been broken into over the past week. Things taken were smaller items of value like cash, prescription medication, and electronics.
Police say the burglaries always take place in the early morning hours when people are still in their homes.
"We're concerned about that because mostly, a person who's desperate enough to go into a home that they know is occupied," explained Lt. Dale Wisnewski. "might be desperate enough to be more dangerous than someone who's doing a break-in out of convenience."
Lt. Wisnewski said the investigation is ongoing, and the department is following up on a lot of good leads. He urges residents in the area to keep their doors locked and be on the lookout for any suspicious activity.
