RHINELANDER (WAOW)- Packers fans up north got a special treat Tuesday night as four Packers made their way to Rhinelander Ice Arena for the first stop of the tailgate tour. One of the first big signs that OTAs and camp are right around the corner.
Says Wide Receiver James Jones, "Even if you get away from football for a week, you seem to miss it, so I'm excited to get back out there with everybody, put a little headgear on, have some fun, and see what we got this year."
Says Safety Nick Collins, "All the guys will be here, opportunity for the new guys, the rookies to get caught up to speed."
Says Offensive Tackle Chad Clifton, "This next week is really when we start practicing together as a team, getting the young guys in is gonna be crucial with their development so we really look forward to it."
The guys all say the season can't come quickly enough as they're anxious to erase the memory of that tough playoff loss from a season ago to the Cards.
Says Jones, "Definitely in the back of our head, we know we gotta bounce back and we know with the team we got, we gotta take the whole thing this year."
Says Collins, "Put that loss behind us, use it as motivation and make this run for the Super Bowl."
But for now they'll continue their break from football for this week on the tour and spend more time with their favorite fans.
Says President Mark Murphy, "That's the great thing about this Tailgate Tour is you really get to see first hand the kinda support we have across the state and it's really amazing the passion that they have."
Says Collins, "They show so much love to the organization, to the players and this is just our time to come out and thank them."
