Donna Foss-Johnson


Donna Foss-Johnson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

She was born on January 26, 1950 in Reedsburg, the daughter of the late Donald A. and Gertrude "Lee" (Selle) Foss.  She attended Wausau area schools and graduated from Wausau Senior High in 1968.  Following her love of music, Donna graduated from the UW Eau Claire in 1972 with degrees in Music Education and Music Therapy.  She married David H. Johnson in Wausau on May 30, 1980.

Donna worked as an administrative assistant for various companies in Vermont and Wisconsin.  In Vermont, she was a First Responder/EMT.  After retirement, she volunteered with David as a Music Therapist at the North Central Health Care Center.

They moved to Manitowish Waters in 2007 to enjoy their cabin, the deer and birds.  In Manitowish Waters, she was a member of the Lionesses.

She is survived by her husband, David; and three sisters, Mary (Joseph) Schaefer, Wausau, Susan Foss, Wausau, and Carol (David) Schaetzl, and Adam Schaetzl, Weston.  She is also survived by her three brothers-in-law, Robert Lee (Fannie) Johnson, New Albany, IN., Michael J. (Phyllis) Johnson, Cameron, Bill (Laurie) Johnson, Hudson; and a special nephew and niece, Brandon and Michelle Johnson of Blaine, MN.

A Celebration of Donna's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marathon County Humane Society.

We would like to thank Dr. Lawlor and the oncology staff at Marshfield Clinic in Weston, the neurology staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield and the Palliative Care staff at St. Joseph's in Marshfield for their care and assistance.
