School Impressive at CWC Meet as Our TV9 Athlete of the Week

(WAOW) - The Wittenberg Birnamwood girls track team cruised to its fourth straight central wisconsin 8 title last weekend. A big reason for the win was Chargers' senior Hannah School who helped deliver four wins at the meet.

For Hannah School, winning has become more than a hope, it's an expectation. The Wittenberg senior captured three individual titles and was part of the 400 relay winning team in Saturday's C-W-C 8 meet, the second straight year she's captured four titles in the conference meet.

"Last year, I won the same four events, so I didn't expect anything less than to win the same four events again," School said.

"When you have an athlete like Hannah and you can bank on the fact she's going to win her individual events and help that relay team win, you're looking at 40 points right there," said Wittenberg head coach Mike Balliett.

Hannah credits steady practice for her success, but this season a new face to the Wittenberg team has helped push her even more. Her sister, Megan, is a freshman and finished seven tenths of a second behind Hannah in the 100 meters and held the lead in the long jump until the older School won the championship on her final jump.

"We've pushed each other ever since we were young. I wouldn't be upset if she beat me," School said. "I'm always trying my hardest and pushing myself to get better because that's the only way I am going to get better is if I push myself in practice, so practice is really a key for me."

"She's really a great role model for the rest of the athletes too," Balliett added. "She's worked hard for all four years and does everything you want a captain to do."

School hopes her continued success leads her back to the state meet where she can improve on her finish in the 100 meter dash a year ago.

"I hope everyone advances on to the level they want to advance on to," School said. "For me, state is my main goal and I know for a couple other people that is the main goal too."
