Prosecutor: Jensen case will overwhelm my office

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A prosecutor says handling former Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen's misconduct in office case will overwhelm his office.

Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel says he's not sure he even has the physical space to house the numerous boxes of documents contained in the court file.

He says it will take him months to review the nearly eight-year-old case and get up to speed.

Schimel says he has no idea whether he will pursue a second trial against Jensen or reach a plea agreement. He says he has never spoken with Jensen's attorneys and the case was "never been my business until a couple hours ago."

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Jensen's retrial on charges that he illegally used state workers to help Republican candidates must be in Waukesha County instead of Dane County.
