Rafters game against Eau Claire at Hackman Field postponed

Wisconsin Rapids, WI July 5, 2010 (PRESS RELEASE)- Heavy rains throughout the day forced the postponement of the game between the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Eau Claire Express scheduled to take place in Marshfield Monday.

The game will now be played as part of the first split double-header in franchise history on Saturday July 24, 2010. Game one will be played at Marshfield's Jack Hackman Field starting at 1:05, with game two played at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids at 7:35. Both games will still be nine inning contests.

Both games of the double header will count towards the second half records of the Rafters and the Express. For the Rafters that means the first half, ending on July 8th, will consist of 33 games, while in the second half the Rafters will play a total of 37 games. The second extra game comes in a double header against Green Bay on July 15.

Despite the later date, fans can still look forward to the Rafters full production in Marshfield, including exciting on-field promotions fans can sign up for when the gates open at 1:05 pm on July 24th. The first 500 kids, 14 & under, will receive full-size baseball bats, courtesy of Marshfield Clinic.

The Rafters will partner with the Marshfield American Legion and the Chaparrals for the production of the game and to celebrate baseball in the Marshfield area. Local bar and restaurant Nutz Deep II will provide food for the Rafters Founders Club members.

Tickets for the game can be purchased ahead of time at Witter Field, through raftersbaseball.com, over the phone by calling (715) 424-5400, or at the gate on the day of July 24th in Marshfield. Seats will be available on a general admission basis for $6.00.  The home plate section will be reserved for Founders Club members.

Tuesday the Rafters travel to Eau Claire for a double header at 5:35. The first of the two seven inning games will be a make-up of a rain out against the Express on June 5.
