Bail set in fatal Iowa Co. shooting

DODGEVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- A man accused in a fatal Iowa County shooting is being held on $250,000 bond.

Thirty-six-year-old Andrew Neevel appeared in court Monday after being accused of killing 38-year-old Jeffrey McPhail Sunday outside Neevel's house in the town of Mifflin.

Neevel's attorney wasn't specific, but said the defendant acted in self defense when McPhail came to his home near Dodgeville.

Iowa County Sheriff Steve Michek says it's not clear what the two men were arguing about. The sheriff tells the State Journal alcohol may have played a role in the shooting.
