MILWAUKEE (AP) -- U.S. Senate hopeful Ron Johnson has raised about $2 million in the second quarter of 2010, of which $1.5 million came from his own pocket.
The Republican Johnson is hoping to unseat Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold this fall.
Johnson's campaign said Wednesday he has $940,000 cash on hand. Feingold reports almost five times as much cash on hand, or $4.3 million.
However, Johnson only announced his candidacy halfway through the reporting period that runs from April 1 to June 30.
Johnson raised about $560,000 from some 2,100 donors. Feingold reported donations from more than 18,000 contributors.
Johnson takes on Watertown business Dave Westlake in a Republican primary in September. Westlake is expected to release his fundraising numbers this week.
