MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- Crews with Wisconsin Public Service had their hands full Wednesday. Storms brought down a tree onto a power line on Camp Phillips Road in Weston. Crews stopped power to the line, then used a chainsaw to remove the branches.
It was a similar scene in Kronenwetter, where fire crews blocked off part of Tower Road near Cedar Creek as they waited for WPS to come remove this tree from a power line.
Newsline 9 spoke with a representative with WPS who said, when it comes to downed power lines, treat everything like it's active. Don't ever touch wires. Also, don't try to cut or remove downed trees or branches unless you are absolutely certain power lines are not involved.
