MARSHFIELD (WAOW)--Construction begins for a state-of-the-art facility for end-of-life care. The House of the Dove Hospice Home will upgrade to a multi-million dollar facility.

Here's a look at its future home located at Schmidt Avenue and West Eleventh Street in Marshfield.

The current home is a former convent with 8 rooms. The new facility will have 12 patient rooms with expanded family gathering areas, a chapel, large kitchen and dining areas. It will also allow for more expanded care.

"Currently, the house, because of the restrictions in code and that it is not a medical facility, can't care for people that need acute medical care. Like if they have a trach and need suctioning, we can't care for them. The new facility will allow us to do that," says Anne Boson the Director of The Foundation at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marsh field.

The House of the Dove is owned by Ministry Saint Joseph's and managed by Ministry Home Care. So far they've raised $4 million. They still need a $500,000 to complete the project.

The Home is scheduled to open April of next year.
