Flood warnings out for several Wisconsin rivers

MADISON (AP) -- Flood warnings are out for the Baraboo, Fox, Spring Creek and Kickapoo Rivers after a series of strong storms soaked the state.

Wisconsin Emergency Management says it has been reaching out to local governments on Thursday to assess the damages from Wednesday's storms.

Damage assessment teams from the National Weather Service are in western Wisconsin trying to determine if damage there as caused by tornados or straight-line winds.

However, the weather service's LaCrosse office is reporting that a weak tornado did hit Jackson and Clark counties Wednesday night, mostly downing trees and power lines.

Several areas around the state were hit by heavy rainfall. Emergency management says, for example, that parts of Milwaukee County got more than 4 inches in 24 hours.
