Man wanted in WI dies during standoff

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) -- Law enforcement officers in Montana say a man wanted in a Wisconsin child sexual abuse case killed himself during a standoff with officers.

David J. Wymore of Cornell, Wis., was charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy. A judge in Wisconsin issued an arrest warrant in June after Wymore failed to show up for a plea hearing.

Cascade County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Wagner says someone who lived across the street from Wymore in the town of Ulm searched the internet for information about him because he had been acting suspiciously. When she learned that he was wanted, she called law enforcement Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff David Castle says deputies negotiated with Wymore for about two hours before they heard a shot at about 5 p.m.
