KING (WAOW)--Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars from all over the state travel to Waupaca County for an event called King Day. It's an event to honor the state's military veterans who live at The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. The State VFW hosts the event every year. Hundreds of people took part in the picnic and parade and enjoyed live music.
"They've paid up front for the freedoms that everybody enjoys on a daily basis. They deserve absolutely everything they can get," says the even Chairman, Richard Morley.
The celebration serves as a reminder that military service is appreciated. The smiles proved the event was a success! Event Organizers say they leave the picnic feeling uplifted after giving back to people who've given so much.
