Sportsman Channel to feed Milwaukee needy venison meal

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A program that feeds the homeless meals made from donated game meat and fish is coming to Milwaukee.

Media company Sportsman Channel says it expects to feed hundreds of people Tuesday at downtown's St. Benedict Community Meal.

The initiative is called Hunt.Fish.Feed. The food comes from what organizers call an underutilized source -- leftover venison and fish that hunters and anglers don't plan to eat themselves.

Tuesday's menu includes venison Sloppy Joes with corn and bean side dishes.

Brother Dave Schwab of St. Benedict's says he's grateful to see another example of community members helping out those in need.

Sportsman Channel is traveling to 10 U.S. cities this year to feed the needy. It says volunteers to help prepare and serve meals are welcome.
