Lt. Governor candidate stops in Wausau

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Republican Brett Davis is making a run for Lieutenant Governor. Monday he makes a stop in Wausau to tour businesses in the area.

Davis says he wants to use the Lieutenant Governor position to find ways to cut wasteful spending. He spent the day meeting with area business leaders throughout the Wausau Area.

Davis says he wants to ask them about what specifically is impacting their businesses.

Davis says, "Largely I've been finding that wasteful spending in our government leads to higher taxes which leads to fewer jobs and I want to use the Lieutenant Governor position to change that."

Davis says the number one issue he's finding as he travels the state is excessive spending. He says, "The list is very long as I travel this state of wasteful spending in our government but ultimately if we lower our overall spending in our 60 million dollar budget we can lower taxes which will create a better business climate and create jobs for working families all across Wisconsin."

Davis is currently a State Representative from the 80th assembly district in south central Wisconsin.

He'll face four other Republicans in the September primary.
