Neumann loans campaign $2.7 million

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Neumann has loaned his campaign $2.7 million.

Reports Neumann filed with the state this week show that since he launched his campaign a year ago he has loaned it $2.7 million, including $1 million on June 30. The homebuilder from the Milwaukee area reports having a little over $1 million cash on hand.

That's less than his Republican rival, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker. He reports having raised $2.5 million the first six months of the year and having $2.5 million on hand.

The only major Democratic candidate, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, raised $2.4 million for the period and had $2.9 million cash on hand.

The primary is Sept. 14 and the general election is Nov. 2.
