Pitchers Duel Turns Into Lopsided Chucks Win Over Rafters

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - For seven innings, no one could muster a run.  However, all that changed when the Woodchucks came to the plate in the 8th.

Thursday night's starting pitchers were spectacular.  Both pitched 6 2/3 innings.  Wisconsin Rapids' Mitch Running struck out 6 while scattering 5 hits.  Woodchuck Don Lisi was even better, striking out 8 and allowing just 4 hits.

However, while Chucks reliever Mitchell Beacom kept things going for Wisconsin, the same couldn't be said for the Rapids relievers.  Beacom pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, striking out 4 Rafters and giving up only a single hit.  Meanwhile, the Woodchucks cranked out 6 hits and 7 runs after Running walked off the field.  They scored 3 in the 8th inning and 4 in the 9th en route to a 7-0 win.

Patrick Terry finished the night 2-for-4 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.  Kevin Pillar went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

These same two teams tangle again Friday night at Athletic Park in Wausau.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
