Cyclists come together to help hit and run victim

By Heather Sawaski

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The local cycling community comes together to help one of their own.

Earlier this month, 26 year old Timothy Wissbroeker was hit by a car near Antigo while he was riding his bike on the shoulder of Highway 64. The driver took off.

The Wausau triathlete suffered head injuries, several spinal fractures, and other broken bones. Now, employees at Sproketz Bike Shop in Weston are hitting the pavement to help.

"One of our sponsored riders, Justin Lund, is taking pledges for the Wausau 24 Hour Mountain Bike Race that he's doing. He's taking pledges per lap. We're trying to raise money to help the Wissbroeker's with the medical expenses."

Wissbroeker is also a member of the Sproketz racing team.

The race is this Saturday. If you'd like to make a pledge, stop by Sproketz on Schofield Ave in Weston.
