Senate wrangling continues over campaign finance disclosure

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate holds a key vote today on a new campaign disclosure measure and President Barack Obama is denouncing Senate Republicans for opposing it.

The bill was prompted by the Supreme Court's ruling earlier this year that allows corporations and unions to spend their own money on campaign ads and brochures.

Sponsor Sen. Charles Schumer says voters need to know who's behind attack ads or is issuing ads that bend the truth

The measure needs the backing of at least one Republican to clear a procedural hurdle but so far, no dice.

Obama says GOP obstruction will leave corporations and their front groups free to "take over" elections without tipping their hands.
