BATTLE CREEK, MI (WAOW) - With standing water still on portions of C.O. Brown Stadium at game time, Wednesday's scheduled game between the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Battle Creek Bombers has been postponed. The game will be played as part of a double-header Thursday with game one of two seven inning contests starting at 5:05 central time.
Heavy thunderstorm activity overnight and in the early morning left the playing surface partially covered with water in both the infield and outfield. Workers manicured the infield back to a near playable condition but the outfield remained to wet to allow play to begin.
The Rafters have not fared well in double headers on the season. The Eau Claire Express swept the Rafters in a pair of double headers earlier this season while the Rafters split a double-header earlier this season in Green Bay with the Bullfrogs.
Thursday's double-dip in Battle Creek is the first of a total of four games on the road to end the week. Friday it is on to Madison for the first two of a three game weekend series against the Mallards.
