Binder-Ghidorzi helps design Teeters home

by Cami Mountain

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Throughout the next several months, you'll watch as an entire community "Builds from the Heart' to give the Teeters family of Wausau a brand new -- handicapped accessible home for their two children who were born with severe disabilities.

Wally Binder of Binder-Ghidorzi Architectural Services came into the project quite early.  He designed Chris and Annie Teeters' home.

And there was more to consider with this house than with a typical build.  In the plans, Binder had to look at ways to install a lift chair so Zak and Callie can move themselves around.

He also wanted to make sure there area as few steps as possible, so Chris and Annie won't have to carry the kids up and down different levels.

Binder says, "That's one of the things that happens with people, is that the caregiver gets worn out in the process of giving the care.  So, we looked at different things that will help the caregiver do what they need to do and not be totally exhausted."
