Bigby starts Packer camp on sidelines without long-term deal
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Atari Bigby says his decision to wait until this week to sign his restricted free agent tender offer from the Green Bay Packers didn't accomplish its intended goal: getting a long-term contract from the team.
And Bigby acknowledges that he is concerned about a nagging ankle injury that caused him to fail a physical when he reported to training camp. When practice opened Saturday, Bigby was watching from the sideline.
Now he says it's time to get healthy, get back on the field and return to his role as one of the team's starting safeties -- even if he has to win the job back from third-round rookie Morgan Burnett.
