Chillar getting reps at outside linebacker during Packers camp
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers coaches have tossed a wild card into their search for outside linebacker help, having Brandon Chillar take most of the snaps on the right side with the first-team defense during a training camp practice Monday.
Chillar is a versatile inside linebacker best known for his pass coverage skills. It isn't clear whether coaches are serious about having him permanently switch positions or are just experimenting while second-year outside linebacker Brad Jones sits out with a back injury.
But linebacker Nick Barnett says Chillar's athleticism makes the move "definitely an intriguing idea."
