Newest federal prosecutor in Wis. to be sworn in

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Wisconsin's newest federal prosecutor is set to be sworn in, and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is scheduled to speak at the ceremony.

James Santelle will be sworn in Wednesday at the federal court in Milwaukee. He'll become the 34th U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

He replaces Steven Biskupic, who resigned last year after serving the district for seven years.

Santelle was appointed to the position in December by President Barack Obama.

Santelle has worked for the U.S. Justice Department for 25 years. His service included two years of legal work in Iraq to help develop an effective justice system.

He graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1983.

The Eastern District covers the state's 28 eastern counties.
