MARSHFIELD(WAOW)--Vandals strike a Marshfield cemetery leaving behind thousands of dollars in damages and it was no accident. On Monday several markers at the Hill Side Cemetery were destroyed.
When Linda Hertel and her daughter came to visit her mother's grave, they immediately knew something was wrong. The nose on the angel on the tombstone was missing. Linda scanned the area and quickly noticed other tombs had been vandalized.
Linda Hertel says, "I was sickened by the thought that there were individuals who for whatever reason they did this, just why. Why such a heartless senseless act. Truly how pathetic that there's nothing better to do with their time, that they have to come to a cemetery and do something likes."
Seven tombs have been vandalize, damages costing more than $9,900. The cemetery sexton is currently trying to notify other loved ones of the damages.
