Burger Fest is held this weekend in Seymour

SEYMOUR, Wis. (AP) -- The eastern Wisconsin city that takes credit for creating the hamburger is holding its annual celebration of the sandwich this weekend.

The festivities include a launch of hot air balloons, a ketchup slide competition and the grilling of a more than 8,200 pound burger. There will also be a hamburger eating contest. The current record for the 12-minute limit is 7 1/2 hamburgers -- with buns.

The 22nd Annual Burger Fest will start Friday night and run through the weekend in Seymour, which is about 15 miles west of Green Bay.

The city calls itself the official Home of the Hamburger, tracing the roots to 1885 when Charlie Nagreen began serving ground beef and onion patties between two pieces of bread at a Seymour fair.
