Outagamie DA faces state reprimand, will contest

APPLETON (AP) -- Outagamie County District Attorney Carrie Schneider is facing a reprimand from the state Supreme Court office that polices lawyer's conduct but says she will fight the allegations.

An investigation stemmed from a complaint filed three years ago by a victim witness coordinator who charged that Schneider concealed a plea deal with a key witness in a robbery trial.

Schneider's attorney tells the newspaper she intends to defend herself against the charges by the Office of Lawyer Regulation. Schneider says the latest complaints are part of a pattern against her by political opponents.

The man convicted in the robbery case later had his conviction vacated by a judge but was tried again and sentenced to 18 years in prison.
