(WAOW)- Whistling Straits opened its gates Monday for the PGA Championship which opens play on Thursday. Madison native Jerry Kelly was on the range Monday afternoon and he talked about his previous experience in 2004 where he missed the cut.
Says Kelly, "Tough scenario having it blow 20 or 30 miles per hour monday, tuesday and wednesday, picking your lines and then having it be dead calm on Thursday. I showed up and I was seven under through 11 holes. That wasn't the golf course I was expecting, but then you get aggressive and you know, so I learned a lot from that one and I'm excited."
