MARSHFIELD(WAOW)--The Marshfield community is known for many things, namely its devotion to healthcare, Prevention Genetics is among them. The lab receives and tests clinical DNA specimens from countries all over the world. The company's rapidly growing business now leads to expansion.

James Weber President of Prevention Genetics says, "Well we have exhausted our existing space or current capacity so we will be building a new building in September completed next April."

Governor Jim Doyle awards the company $329,000 in tax credits to build a new facility and create 51 new jobs. The company's president says it enables him to do what he originally set out to do.

Weber says,"One of the reasons I founded the company was to help build a local economy, so every time we hire a new person that's a great pleasure for us."

Company leaders are excited to move forward with expansion, nearly doubling their current staff. City leaders look forward as well hoping the addition sparks a trend.

Aaron Olver Secretary of Wisconsin Department of Commerce says "What we really need to do is figure out how we can pull out more good ideas, companies and more technology out of research and turn them into companies that not only save lives but create jobs and employment here in Marshfield."
