Body recovered from Chippewa River

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) -- A body recovered from the Chippewa River in Eau Claire is believed to be that of a man missing since Tuesday.

Family and friends of 49-year-old Don LaCosse of Eau Claire gathered Thursday night at Chippewa Valley Church after the body was found about 12 miles downstream from where LaCosse disappeared.

Minister Joel Peed says LaCosse was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and was someone who cared deeply about God, his friends and family.

Eau Claire police tell WEAU-TV an autopsy is set for Friday morning when they expect to identify the body. LaCosse's family says funeral plans are pending.
