Inexperienced Marshfield looks to continue recent success

By Russ Owens

(WAOW)-  Marshfield was just two wins away from a state berth in 2009 losing to Merrill in level three of the D2 playoffs.  We feature the Tigers as they aim to get even farther in 2010 as we continue our Countdown to Kickoff

But it will be a different look for the Tigers this season for sure, starting with a new coach as Dennis Goettl who has been an assistant with the Tigers since 1995, and now takes over for legendary departed coach Len Luedtke.

A lot of new faces on the field as well, just three starters on defense return and zero on offense, but these guys are already aiming to make the playoffs for a 15th straight year.

Says Head Coach Dennis Goettl, "They wanna show up and they don't wanna be the guys to let anyone down. They're there, they know how hard they had to work. We lost all the seniors that propelled our offense, and now we have the guys that wanna step in there and play, so they knew they had to work. "

Says Senior Tyler Rollins, "Well we got a lot of new faces, but a lot of hard workers. They'll figure it out, I'm pretty excited about it."

Says Senior Logan Schmitz, "A lot of hard workers, not a lot of experience, we're still working on that, but a lot of smart guys, guys that are willing to learn and make plays, so we'll be ok."
