Minocqua man charged in wife's death

MINOCQUA (WAOW) -- Homicide charged have been filed against a Minocqua man after his wife was found dead inside a closet of their home.

William R. Schmidt, 40, is being held in Oneida County Jail on first-degree intentional homicide charges.

According to a criminal complaint, officers went to the Minocqua residence on Country Club road to perform a welfare check in June. That's where officers found the body of Lori J. Schmidt wrapped in a comforter, placed inside a bedroom closet.

Autopsy results indicate that Lori died from "homicide by unspecified means."
