Illinois motorcyclist dies in Wisconsin collision

CLINTON TOWNSHIP (AP) -- Wisconsin authorities say a speeding motorcyclist from Illinois has died after he crashed into a car that pulled out in front of him.

Authorities say 43-year-old Frederick C. Pickert of Belvidere, Ill., was killed in Friday afternoon's collision in Clinton Township. He wasn't wearing a helmet.

Deputies say 24-year-old Tyler J. Kurth of Harvard, Ill., had stopped at a stop sign and continued eastbound into an intersection. They say Pickert was approaching the intersection from the south but couldn't stop in time to avoid a collision.

Pickert slammed on the brakes, leaving almost 380 feet of skid marks. He then lay the bike down and slid another 20 feet before slamming into the car.

A coroner declared Pickert dead at the scene. Kurth wasn't hurt.
