Rhinelander(WAOW)--The Northwoods of Wisconsin is known as a hot spot for tourism and with the economy coming out of a recession people are starting to head north.

Kelli Trumble, Secretary of Tourism says, "We're finding that in 2010 that people are definitely traveling, getting away with their family and friends. Its not an easy thing to give up and we're actually seeing more people traveling.

What attracts tourist to towns like Minoqua and Eagle River is their beautiful nature trails and lakes, there is something for everyone. The weather also plays a role as to how tourism will be in the summer months.

"Well we've been really fortunate this summer. We have had more rain to help with the water levels, that is a positive," said Trumble.

Even though people are planning vacations, families are still strapped for cash.

Trumble says, "We know their are some restraints with spending, we're not surprised by that. Consumer lifestyles have changed, getting away to vacation to recharge is something that they want to do."

With the summer months winding down, business are now just looking for what's around the corner.

Trumble says, "Fall is our leading second travel spending season and so we are just about to wrap up the summer season so we can go into the fall."
