Judge sets $500,000 cash bond for Minocqua murder suspect

ONEIDA COUNTY (WAOW)--An Oneida County Judge sets a high cash bond for the man accused of murdering his wife.

William Schmidt is charged with first degree intentional homicide in the death of his wife Lori Schmidt. He appeared in Oneida County court by video conference Monday.

The judge set a $500,000 cash bond saying that the strength of evidence, Schmidt's criminal history and his flight risk justify the high bond.

According to investigators, police went to her Minocqua home on June 17. That's when they found her body wrapped in a comforter in the master bedroom closet.

Last week the Oneida County District Attorney's office filed the homicide charges against her husband.

According to the autopsy report Lori died from "homicide by unspecified means."

Schmidt's next court appearance is scheduled for September 1, 2010.
