Golf outing supports Special Olympics

MOSINEE (WAOW) - You don't have to be the best golfer to enjoy a round on the links.  But you can make a world of difference for Special Olympians.

Golfers from all over the state tee it up at Indianhead Golf Course in Mosinee.

They shoot for prizes with different contests and enjoy a full day that includes a banquet dinner.  It all raises money for Special Olympics.

Theresa Pries/Regional Director of Development, Special Olympics Wisconsin: "It's just an ability to get the athletes together and get them some socialization. And have a better greater good for the community."

Money raised at the golf outing supports more than 1,100 Special Olympians in North-Central Wisconsin.

Across the state, Special Olympics provides 18 different sports for more than 10,000 athletes with cognitive disabilities.

Golf is one of those 18 sports offered in Wisconsin.
