Wausau (WAOW) -- St. Peter Lutheran School in Schofield kicked off the new school year today.
The first day focused on testing to see what each student remembers from the last school year. Teachers also had students share interesting stories from this past summer.
While the first day is usually slow, teachers believe students are genuinely glad to be back.
"It's going pretty well kids are always excited to come back to school even though some of them will say they're not so excited," Principal Scott Huebner said. "It's a time to renews some acquaintances, see some of their friends and classmates that they haven't seen for awhile. We took a little time this morning in my classroom to share what we did over the summer, any vacations or interesting experiences that we had."
