Theft investigation ongoing at area hospital

by Colby Robertson

WESTON (WAOW) -- An accusation of theft has sparked an internal investigation at an area hospital.

Few details are being released at this moment, but Everest Metro Police confirm they received a complaint about stealing at Saint Clare's Ministry Health Care in Weston.

Captain Clay Schultz says the department took the initial complaint Monday, August 16th. While they're actively looking into the accusations, the Police Department can't release any more details.

They will say they've contacted Saint Clare's to notify them about the allegation. According to police, Saint Clare's told them they are aware of the allegation and are doing their own internal investigation.

Everest Metro police can't proceed any further until Saint Clare's gives them the okay. In this case, Saint Clare's is the victim. They have to be willing to say something is missing before the case can move forward.

The following is a media statement from Tom Weaver, Public & Community Relations Manager to Colby Robertson, WAOW TV-9:

"The Administration of The Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Weston is aware of this issue. Our initial internal review has shown that there was never a threat to patient care or safety. We continue to look into this matter."

Located on the Weston Regional Medical Center campus, The Diagnostic & Treatment Center is a service of Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care and offers a broad range of advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical services to meet the needs of all area physicians and their patients.
