Jordan Zimmermann Goes 4 Innings in Return to Bigs
by Jayson Geiser
WASHINGTON, DC (WAOW) - Auburndale graduate Jordan Zimmermann made his return to the major leagues on Thursday, 53 weeks after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. The Washington starter pitched 4 innings against St. Louis, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits. He also struck out 4. Zimmermann is expected to be limited to 5 innings of work in any game he starts for the rest of the year.
This game was far from a pitchers duel anyway. The teams combined to use 15 different pitchers over 13 innings. The Nationals did get the win, 11-10.
