MINNEAPOLIS – The UW-Stevens Point football team drops out of the nation's top-25 this week and will enter the bye week as the highest team in the "Others Receiving Votes" category in the latest D3football.com Poll.
The Pointers dropped their season-opener to then 18th-ranked Willamette University (Oregon) 33-14 on Sept. 4. Willamette ranks 13th in the week one poll.
The top 122 in the weekly poll voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country remained unchanged, with fellow Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member and defending National Champion UW-Whitewater on top. The Warhawks collected 22 of the 25 first place votes.
UW-Stevens Point will return to action in the 24th annual Spud Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 18 when they host NCAA Division II opponent Missouri S&T in a 1 p.m. kickoff at Community Stadium.
