BAYFIELD (AP) -- Authorities say a Minnesota man has died after a kayaking accident in the Apostle Islands area off northern Wisconsin.
The U.S. Coast Guard says the 45-year-old man was kayaking with a friend Friday when the weather turned bad and the two became separated.
After the man's friend reported him missing, authorities launched a search by sea and air. The Coast Guard says the effort was hampered by winds, high waves and low visibility.
The man was found dead in the Justice Bay area of Sand Island. He was wearing a life vest and wetsuit.
The Coast Guard has not released his name.
