MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have extended their player development contract with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds through 2012.
The Sounds have served as Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate since 2005 and the decision ends speculation that the Brewers would be among the teams switching cities this offseason.
General manager Doug Melvin says that the ownership group of the Sounds remain committed to the Brewers' requests and the push for a new stadium. Nashville's Herschel Greer Stadium opened in 1978 and the Sounds hope to have a deal in place for a new stadium by early next year.
Milwaukee called up 15 players from Nashville this season and 24 of the 31 players currently on the Brewers' active roster have appeared for Nashville during their playing careers.
