SPRING GREEN (AP) -- Author Neil Gaiman is visiting the House on the Rock in Spring Green next month.
Gaiman wrote "American Gods," which features the House on the Rock as a central part of the story. The main character, Shadow, and several of the gods ride on the carousel inside the house. It serves as a portal into the mind of the All-Father god.
The event is called the "Gathering of American Gods" and takes place over Halloween weekend. It includes a reading by Gaiman, panel discussions, a scavenger hunt featuring local sites mentioned in the novel and a Saturday costume party.
Gaiman will judge the costumes and winners will get to ride the carousel, which has never been open to the public.
Gaiman's other works include "Coraline" and "Stardust." He lives in western Wisconsin, outside Minneapolis.
