Jackie Sullivan, 60 of Weston, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at her home under the care of her loving family and Ministry Home Care Hospice. Her illness was sudden and brief.
Jackie was born on January 21, 1950 in La Fontaine, IN, daughter of the late Howard and Marie (Faust) Sailors. She married Marty Sullivan on August 23, 1970 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. They celebrated their 40th anniversary this summer. She was a graduate of Southwood High School in Huntington County IN and attended Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin Parkside.
Jackie was a loving, caring, and sharing person to her family and friends. She raised her family in many locations including San Diego, Chicagoland area, Kronenwetter, London England, Racine, Saint Louis, Roswell NM, and Weston. She was employed in several customer service positions. She was an active community volunteer in these locations. Jackie was an avid reader with many hobbies including bird watching, walking and gardening. She enjoyed traveling with her husband best. Jackie was very active in the Wausau Elks #248 lodge. She was president of the auxiliary and became the newest member of the Lodge in June. She was named with Marty as Elk Couple of the year in 2000 and Lady Elk of the year in 2009. She was a member of St. Agnes Parish where she often volunteered. Everyone, who was fortunate to meet and know Jackie benefited from her warm, compassionate, and friendly nature.
Survivors include her husband Marty Sullivan of Weston, one son, Colin Sullivan of Denver and Cathleen Sullivan of Des Moines, IA; one brother, Richard (Pat) Sailors of Pulaski, TN; three grandchildren, Kieran, Ella, and Drew Sullivan; her brother-in-law, Ward Sullivan of Winter, WI; nieces and nephews, Gary, Rick, Randy, and Rhonda Wylie. She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Wylie, and brother-in-law, Rodney Wylie.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Agnes Parish, 6101 Zinser St. Weston. The Rev. Joseph Rafacz will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Ct., Weston with an Elks Lodge of Sorrow service at 7:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
