Think Pink: Girl Scouts promote breast cancer awareness

MERRILL (WAOW) -- It seems like pink is becoming the new color for October. All month long, events are happening for breast cancer awareness.
Saturday the Girl Scouts of the northwest Great Lakes teamed up with Aspirus Women's Health Center and the Komen Foundation to learn more about breast cancer awareness.
Girl Scouts staff say it's never to early for girls to learn how to check for breast cancer.
"From a health standpoint, I don't think girls are ever to young to learn about taking care of their bodies and learning about things within themselves, we're talking about healthy eating, exercise," says program manager Stephanie Haka.
The young women participated in a one-mile awareness walk. They also listened to a breast cancer survivor and toured a mobile imaging unit, and helped construct a quilt that will be donated to the Komen Foundation.
