Raymond W. Larson, 92, of Wausau died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at Our House Senior Living, Wausau.
He was born May 24, 1918 in Colfax, WI to the late Wesley and Camille (Semeon) Larson. Raymond married Goldie Greenhill on Nov. 6, 1960 in LaCrosse. He was baptized and confirmed in the Colfax Methodist Church. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1936 and then from the UW-Madison in 1942 with a Bachelors Degree in Science-Dairy Manufacturing. Raymond was employed by Badger Ordinance for one year, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Ensign in 1943 where he was appointed to the staff of Commander of Submarines, Pacific Fleet. He was promoted to rank of 2nd Lieutenant. After the war ended, he was discharged in California in 1946 when he returned to Colfax and was employed by the State of Wisconsin, State Board of Health as Grade A Milk Survey Officer for 35 years, retiring in April, 1984.
He was a lifelong member of Colfax American Legions.
Raymond moved to Eau Claire where he resided for 30 years. In 2006, because of poor health, he and his wife moved to Wausau to be near one of their daughters.
Raymond is survived by His wife, Goldie Larson, of Wausau; two step-daughters, Jane (Frederick) Tealey, of Wausau and Janet (Edward) Eisberner of Slinger; two granddaughters, Holly Eisberner and Alison Simon; two great-grandchildren, Ferdinand and Mayabella Simon.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 12, 2010 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan St. Wausau. Rev. Sarah Nehring will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
