WAUSAU (WAOW) -- It is difficult to think these gorgeous fall days will soon turn to winter ones. And, for many of us it's even more difficult to think about finding a heating bill in the mailbox. But that whole cycle is set to start as we approach winter. WPS is urging customers eligible for their low income home energy assistance program to apply now. The program gives customers who are struggling to pay their bills financial help through grants.
"The one point we really Anna make to customers is if they are getting behind to let us know and keep that commutation open.. and let us know," said Kelly Zagrzebski of Wisconsin Public Service.
Starting November 1 through April 15, WPS can no longer turn off service to those homes who get behind on their bills. But, a program is in place to help stay on top of things before what you owe spirals into collective debt. You can also sign up for the company's Budget Billing program that divides your usage and bills over a year so that you don't get those really high bills during winter and nothing during the summer.
