Edward H. Morganroth Sr., of Plover, died early Wednesday morning October 13, 2010 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau following a five year battle with cancer, passing before his 90th birthday. Ed was born November 22, 1920 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Herbert J. and Bernice (Strauss) Morganroth. Ed married the former Dorothy Jane Witters on June 23, 1950 in Grand Rapids, MI. The couple raised their children in the Chicago area, moving to Plover in 2000 following his retirement in order to be near family. Ed was Vice-President of Sales for the printing press division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. He retired from Mitsubishi in 1985. Ed enjoyed tennis with his family and friends both in Chicago and Plover, as well as traveling around the country with his family. A lifelong voracious reader and learner, Ed also enjoyed weekly breakfasts with a regular group of other area retirees.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or the United Way of Portage County.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy (Jane) of Plover, and the families of his two sons. Ed and Susan Morganroth and their children Alex and Briana reside in Plover; Dana and Sally Morganroth live in Pittsburgh, PA.
Visitation will be held from 3-6pm on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home in Plover. At 6pm a brief eulogy will be given by his sons, followed by full Military Honors in recognition of Ed's service in World War II.
